Land Rover’s hybrid drivetrain for the Range Rover series is coming for the next model year. Recently, the company gave us a look at the 2019 Range Rover Sport hybrid variation.

Customers who purchase the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport P400e will receive the same powertrain as the standard Ranger Rover P400e. The new plug-in hybrid powertrain option includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 13.1-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery back. The vehicle does a zero-to-60 mph leap in 6.3 seconds; its 398 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque are impressive.

The 2019 update Sport model keeps the nimble appearance and performance profile, but it will receive a number of new technological features, including driver assist with blind-spot monitoring, and autonomous emergency braking.

Land Rover’s inclusion of this new plug-in hybrid option is one of the brand’s decisive moves in the direction of achieving its goal of electrifying its fleet. Drivers can get their hands on the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport P400e plug-in hybrid starting at $78,300.
