Tamar Braxton has sold her home in gated Calabasas enclave The Oaks; the sale was a long time coming, but it didn’t pay off in the end. She apparently lost a significant amount of money on the transfer of ownership—well over a million dollars.
Braxton had put the home up for sale following her divorce from husband Vince Herbert, who purchased the house with her about five years ago. The sale price of $9.25 million is a far cry from the $16 million asking price of this spring. Still, the home had been in pre-foreclosure in March, so a million dollar loss and a nearly 40% reduction from the asking price isn’t, relatively speaking, so catastrophic.
Braxton and Herbert were the first owners of the home, which was built in 2012. The couple dropped a few dollars altering to suit their tastes, turning the 15,000 square-foot showplace into a personal palace. The pergola-capped loggia—supported by an ornate colonnade—is representative.
Ornate is the word, throughout. The floors in the foyer and entrance gallery are inlaid travertine; inlaid hardwood floors. Ceilings are buttress-embellished, coffered, or tray. Amenities include a private salon/spa, a movie theater, a home fitness center, and a large garage with a checkerboard floor. There are seven bedrooms and eleven baths overall, including the detached guest house.
Braxton and Herbert divorced late last year.
