Iconic former pro baseball player Barry Bonds recently hit a home run with the sale of his Bay Area home for $6 million.
The Monterey colonial-style home spans 5,200 square feet and is located in San Mateo County’s Hillsborough, about a 20-minute drive from San Francisco. Bonds owned the home for about three years.
The house dates to 2007, and contains five bedrooms and six baths. The interiors feature plentiful oak, soft arches, wall niches, and ornamental windows, including a stunning, kiva-shaped paned picture window in the living area. Period and modern are nicely balanced in the home, as are warm and cool influences. Throughout, an understated charm prevails.
The cottage-style kitchen flows into the family room, where French doors open to an expansive patio. The rear courtyard is ideal for entertaining with a fireplace, a built-in barbecue, and plenty of space to lounge.
Bonds retired in 2010, ending a brilliant career. Earlier this year, the San Francisco Giants officially retired Bonds’ jersey, #25.
