Tim DeKay has said goodbye to his beautiful Los Angeles-area home. The actor accepted a $5.6 million offer for the recently built 21st-century urbane-rustic residence.

The house is located in Studio City, and situated on an unusually large lot. The careful design of the home’s unassuming style, and the overall size of the property, helped it sell for more than $200,000 over asking.

Set on a half-acre, the three-bedroom, 3.25-bath modern farmhouse was built in 2013. The 5,264-square-foot home welcomes visitors with a quaint foyer. From there, visitors will be drawn to the home’s cavernous double-height great room accented with dark tinder beams. Throughout the home, that tension between cozy and expansive is sustained well, giving the home an effective design and a charming living style.

The combination living/dining/kitchen space has an organic sense of flow and an airy feel thanks to a two-story wall of large windows. It’s easy to imagine relaxing by the fireplace in the living room or sipping a cup of coffee at the kitchen’s large eat-in island.

In addition to a separate family room, an office, and a basement, the home boasts several balconies set above the entertainment-friendly backyard. An outdoor kitchen, patio, and saltwater pool and spa encourages recreation and conviviality. A private guest house on the property provides the space for staff or extended visits.

DeKay—who is known for his roles in dramatic network series “Party of Five” and “Here and Now”—paid $1.205 million for the home in 2011.
