‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Ellen Pompeo sold her residence in Los Angeles this summer. The actor accepted an offer of $2.765 million for the home from Sandra Brant, a former editor of European Vanity Fair, and Vogue magazines.
The Spanish-style home features North African flourishes, and the stone accent wall with vasiform balusters injects a little French influence and a great deal of formality. Inside, though, things are kept earthy and comfortable, with an emphasis on period detail, warmth, and eye-catching embellishment.
The home’s front door offers a charming beginning to the home, with a leaded, colored glass panel and a dramatically rounded arch. The foyer’s narrow-plank hardwood and Moroccan-style pendant fixture set the tone well, with the rest of the house following through nicely. The Moroccan theme, in particular, is beautifully picked up further inside: the accents of the arcaded staircase add just a touch of mystique to the proceedings.
At a little less than 2,500 square feet, the house is fairly compact, but the detail-rich and pleasingly rambling interiors make good use of the space available, and dramatically vaulted or raised ceilings add a nice element of expanse. Overall, the house comes across as very comfortable indeed.
Comfortable, and with fine views besides. The slightly less-than quarter-acre lot packs in a great deal without looking contrived: a charmingly simple pool, bits of lawn, a few mature palms, and tiered landscaping.
