Olympic snowboarder Shaun White has decided to lease his Point Dume home. The monthly rent? $22,500.
The property is an ideal Los Angeles-area getaway, though, and would make for a marvelous temporary home; it’s located on more than an acre atop a beachside bluff. The two-bedroom, two-bath stretches to 2,200 square feet, and features breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
Contemporary in style, the home boasts bright white walls, a tongue-and-groove ceiling, and honey-toned hardwood or tile flooring. Renters will likely spend most of their time in the open-concept living and dining room; it opens broadly to a large terrace looking out to the water, offering a majestic survey of this corner of Malibu.
The kitchen features custom white cabinetry, black countertops, high-end appliances, and a perfect picture window. There are only two traditional bedrooms, but a sleeping nook tucked away in the bottom-floor living room should help with extended accommodations.
Most appealing is the lot size. This beachfront home is set on a large piece of land, and the sprawling green lawn that flows to the edge of the bluff gives it a potent feeling of continuation. A built-in barbecue and a large swimming pool with a spa present plenty of opportunity for sun-soaked recreating.
By no means the lone residence in the snowboarder’s portfolio, this home is just one of a number of luxurious U.S. properties owned by White.
For those interested in a summer-only rental, White’s property is available as a fully furnished short-term rental for $55,000 per month.
