Russell Simmons Selling West Hollywood Home for $8.3M

Def-Jam Recordings founding member and Los Angeles-area yoga-studio businessman Russell Simmons has put his home in the Hills above Sunset up for sale. Simmons is asking for $8.25 million to turn over the deed.

Simmons has apparently been in the throes of a real-estate sell-off on both coasts, with his $10 million Manhattan hitting the open market just a few months ago.

The West Coast home to be put up for sale is a Spanish eclectic that dates to the middle of the 1930’s. The house is a solid example of the style in mansion context, with a pronounced turret housing the main staircase, tile roof, and a little less than 6,300 square feet of living space.

The home’s style is largely rendered in period detail, space, and a pleasingly irregular layout. Clerestory windows, exposed beams, and a fireplace distinguish the living room. The rear of the home features a covered balcony and master-suite terrace looking out over the pool, outdoor dining area, and gardens.

Simmons’ other business startups include Phat Farm and Argyleculture.
