The former L.A.-area home of actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor is back on the market for $23.5 million.
Gabor paid $250,000 for the expansive Bel Air mansion back in 1973. Prior to her ownership, Elvis Presley himself had rented the 9,000-square-foot French Regency-style residence.
The beautiful six-bedroom, six-bath mansion features a mansard roof and period details a-plenty. Its hilltop location provides it with incredible views of both the Pacific Ocean and the L.A. skyline. The property has been used for a number of notable film projects, including the Academy Award-winning flick “Argo,” where it played home to Alan Arkin’s film-producer character Lester Siegel.
Designed with entertaining in mind, the home boasts a series of expansive living spaces, including a ballroom. Spaces are accented with classic design elements like checkerboard and parquet floors, and floor-to-ceiling glass sliders. The home is dated, but in that way carries the aura of a space where Ronald Reagan and Frank Sinatra use to visit glamorous Gabor.
In addition to an expansive terrace with a grand staircase, the backyard features a swimming pool and plenty of patio space. The home also comes with blueprints providing options for renovations that would add another bedroom, four bathrooms, and a massive garage.
Gabor gained popularity through roles in a number of iconic films of the 1950s, including ‘Touch of Evil.’ Her real-life slapping of a Los Angeles traffic cop in 1989 won her a new generation of devoted fans.
