Director Craig Gillespie has picked up a Los Angeles-area manse for $12.05 million. The home sold after less than two months on the market, and for a just a bit over its $11.995 million ask.
Gillespie bought the Brentwood home from fellow Tinseltown producer Andrew O’Connor. The contemporary home is a custom design, and employs reclaimed timber, tile, and brick to lend warmth and a little history to the modern lines and sense of proportion.
The home measures a little more than 5,200 square feet, and is located behind secure gates and a privacy hedge. There are five bedrooms and 5.5 baths across two stories.
Airy and eclectic, the home boasts a unique combination of accents like plaster walls, steel-trimmed windows, reclaimed wood floors, wood ceiling beams, and, of course, plenty of indoor-outdoor living space.
Beyond the expansive ceilings of the main living spaces, several areas stand out. The kitchen is especially worthy of attention with a farmhouse-style sink, white subway tiling, colored cabinetry, and high-end appliances.
There’s also plenty of room to entertain out in the entry courtyard with its outdoor fireplace, or in the backyard, which features a stunning infinity-edged swimming pool and canyon views.
Gillespie is an Australian-born commercial director responsible for the recent popular biopic, “I, Tonya.”
