Filmmaker Spike Jonze has picked up a luxurious Malibu home for $5.85 million.
The Oscar-winning creative’s new residence is located on an expansive one-acre plot in the Point Dume area. The ranch-style home features plenty of vintage mid-century charm, and is poised to be liberated with a few judicious renovations.
The home dates to the mid-1950s, and is set at the end of a long gravel driveway. It measures a little more than 1,950 square feet, and boasts a classic post-and-beam construction. The three-bedroom, two-bath includes beautiful features like exposed wood ceilings, a brick fireplace, and ceramic floor tiles.
The home still features a number of original elements, including a classic ’50s-era blue-tiled bathroom. Other spaces, like the high-end kitchen with stainless steel appliances, have clearly already been updated.
In addition to access to Point Dume’s private beaches, Jonze will enjoy incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. The backyard is spacious and currently includes a large brick terrace and a fair stretch of lawn, but there’s plenty of room to expand. A landscaped garden and swimming pool would do wonders.
Jonze’s films include 2013’s ‘Her,’ which he wrote, produced, and directed.
