Italian motorcycle builder MV Agusta has had a difficult start to the century. The manufacturer’s designs can be brilliant, but debt has plagued it. In the past two years, though, it has bought back what it sold to Mercedes-AMG, and shown significant signs of life. Among the new designs to hit the streets is the Tursimo Veloce Lusso SCS touring bike.
The new build is actually a special version of the Turismo Veloce Lusso. MV’s new Lusso SCS sports tourer boasts an aggressive build with the power to back it up. One of the most impressive features, though, is the centrifugal automatic clutch arrangement.
Dirt bike riders are likely familiar with the setup, but more traditional street-cycle enthusiasts can now enjoy the benefit, too, as Lusso SCS’s gearbox allows for auto or clutch modes. Thanks to a partnership with Rekluse, MV has developed a special anti-stall clutch that isn’t awkward or bulky.
Rekluse’s clutch works rather simply by disengaging when revs drop to a center low. The impressive new centrifugal system allows for drivers to take a calm ride, as on a “normal” motorcycle, or opt for full clutch control with gears when their blood is up.
The SCS gets its power from a 798cc, three-cylinder MV Agusta 800-series motor that is able to send the bike from zero to 100 mph in just 3.15 seconds. With so much speed, naturally, safety becomes a concern. But considering the standard Turismo Veloce Lusso features a number of advanced tech and safety features, riders of this special SCS will benefit from advanced protections while zooming down the road.
MV Agusta’s new Turismo Veloce Lusso SCS is available starting at $25,170.
