Retired race car driver and team owner Bobby Rahal is hoping to speed away from his Chicago mansion with $5 million.
The legendary American racer’s Windy City mansion spans 7,000 square feet and holds seven bedrooms and six full baths. The home was completely renovated in 2007, but retains its period feel inside and out. The limestone and brick residence boasts a classic, refined style as a result.
The historic Lincoln Park house boasts formal spaces ideal for entertaining, including a beautiful formal living room decked out with a marble fireplace, two sets of French doors, and a chandelier hanging from the paneled ceiling.
Of course, there are a number of modern touches for added comfort. Specifically, the bright white kitchen is filled with modern, high-end appliances in addition to two dishwashers and a massive center island. New windows are also clearly evident. Colors present a divergent series of cool and warm spaces, and there’s a lot of texture going on here, with highly figured marble and distressed plank floors competing for attention.
Mansion-like amenities include an elevator, a comprehensive sound system, and several wine refrigerators. The party can even continue outside; the rooftop deck offers incredible views of Chicago’s skyline. Bedrooms are each unique and the expansive master suite features a private veranda.
The three-time IndyCar champion co-owns the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team with David Letterman.
