Singer-songwriter Shakira has re-listed her longtime South Florida home on the open market.
The sale represents a serious change for the crossover star; she picked it up in 2001, and it was the singer’s primary residence before her move to Barcelona around 2015. Shakira has priced the 8,700 square-foot sprawler at $11.65 million; she picked it up in 2001, for $3.4 million.
This is at least the fourth time that Shakira has listed the property. It first hit the market under her ownership in 2013, when it was priced at just under $15 million. The price fluctuated a bit over the years according to market expectations before settling at the current price, the lowest ask thus far. Miami’s high-end real-estate market is tough business for sellers these days.
As for the house. It dates to 1951, but renovations have rendered it a wide-open affair, very bright, with abundant glass and a generally off-white treatment. Stone or clay tile floors are standard equipment for the South Florida climate, but this home uses plank hardwood; the natural finish adds needed texture and warmth.
The home’s six bedrooms, eight baths, and open-concept living area are augmented with a media room, recreation room, expansive fitness room, and exterior living area with deck, pool, and summer kitchen.
Shakira shot to fame in her early teens. Her latest studio effort is ‘El Dorado’; the tour to support the record begins this month.
