Mercedes-AMG recently introduced the final vehicle in its inline-six, midsize lineup. Meet the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan.
Similar in style to the E53 coupe and cabrio, the sedan features a sleek body build with two hood bulges for an aggressive edge. Mercedes-AMG also added twin exhaust tips and an edgier diffuser on the rear bumper.
The luxury automaker’s new mild-hybrid sedan is anything but mild when it comes to engine setup. The E53 is powered by the same 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that drives the CLS53 and the E53 coupe and convertible. It produces an impressive 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.
As for the hybrid component, the E53 sports a 48-volt light hybrid assist complete with an electrically-powered compressor and a starter-generator. A nine-speed automatic transmission helps push that power to all four wheels.
Because of its gas-and-electric power production, the E53 sedan’s launch is quick: the car can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The sedan can even keep up with its two-door variants, running just a tenth of a second behind the coupe. It boasts an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.
Pricing information? We’re still waiting to hear. But we can tell you that the Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan will be available for purchase later this year.
