High-end accessory brand Montblanc has introduced a new limited-edition pen collection: the Patron of Art Homage to Ludwig II.

As its name implies, the new luxury writing instruments take inspiration from Ludwig II of Bavaria (a.k.a the Swan King), who was a devoted patron of the arts. In honor of Ludwig II’s informal title, the Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Ludwig II Limited Edition 4810 features a beautiful swan motif.

The design, then, merges regal and cygnine. The delicate detailing in the cap evokes white swan feathers. The champagne gold-coated clip resembles swan’s neck, and the barrel’s deep blue lacquer stands out dramatically in contrast.

Montblanc’s the Patron of Art Homage to Ludwig II Limited Edition 888 also features an intricate cutout design that honors Ludwig II’s mural paintings in his Neuschwanstein throne room. The unique design is made from Au750 solid gold overlay placed over a white lacquer base. A ruby-accented cap ring, and a series of pave diamonds, completes the look.

Limited to five examples.
