Head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers Luke Walton has scored big with the purchase of a Manhattan Beach manse. Walton paid $7.2 million for the property, a sprawling and grandiose vision of upscale SoCal that would look right at home on a Bravo reality series.
The 10,000-square-foot French Riviera-style home was built in 2003, and holds eight bedrooms and eight baths. This is Walton’s second home in the Los Angeles-area beach town. It is surmised that he picked up the property from former Wizard World CEO John Macaluso.
The home is designed for entertaining. It begins with a grand foyer that features a princess-style double staircase and a crystal chandelier, a grand statement indeed.
The game room features a wet bar and fireplace, and the formal dining room both commend themselves for social diversions. Interior amenities best shared with guests include a movie theater, and a 300-bottle wine room.
More intimate spaces include a generously proportioned kitchen with a center island, and a cozy family room with a fireplace. An office with coffered ceilings, and a master suite with its own mini-gym were presumably attractions for the coach.
The exterior is landscaped lush, and features a large patio, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, an outdoor bar, and a deusey of a pool: a 46-foot-long saline design with a water feature.
Walton is a former Lakers player himself, and took the court alongside legends and rivals Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. He has led the team as head coach since 2016.
