Actress Alyson Hannigan of “How I Met Your Mother” and husband, actor Alexis Denisof, are saying goodbye to one of their Los Angeles-area properties. The couple accepted a $4.9 million offer for the house against a $5.1 million list; the home had been on the market for about three months.
Hannigan picked up the home in Santa Monica from screenwriter-director Mark Steven Johnson for $1.936 million in 2002. The house stretches to roughly 4,100 square feet, and features a series of exotic 1930s-era features, most notably a bell tower, amid a suite of Spanish Mediterranean flourishes.
Visitors enter the Mission Revival-inspired home via a charming gated courtyard. Inside, soaring beamed ceilings meet with arched doors and original baroque gables. Standout spaces include an updated kitchen with built-in seating, and the formal living and dining rooms.
The future residents also have plenty of dedicated living space across five bedrooms. Naturally, the master suite stands out, turning on the charm with a fireplace and a private balcony. The exterior of the home features a spiral staircase, and a secluded swimming pool and spa.
In addition to her popular role on “How I Met Your Mother,” Hannigan appeared in the “American Pie” film franchise and the TV show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Denisof was also on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and also appeared on “Finding Carter” and “Grimm.”
