Rocker Sting recently sold his unit in 15 Central Park West. It took about a year for the place to definitively close, but it fetched $50 million when it did. Sting and Trudie Styler, the co-owners of the high-rise duplex residence, had initially listed the home at $56 million in May of last year.
The buyer of the property is Karen Lo, whose family business, Vitasoy International, has provided high-protein foods that have been a mainstay of Hong Kong and Chinese daily life for nearly 80 years; the company is presently worth about $3 billion. Lo is currently attempting to sell a combination unit in Chelsea for $37 million, perhaps as a trade-up.
Her new apartment in 15 Central Park West extends to 5,500 square feet. Sting and Styler picked it up in 2008—about a year after the building’s completion—for $27 million; they then had it designed it as a concept space.
The space features four bedrooms and 5.5 baths. It also features a spiral motif, which finds expression in a fireplace as well as a pair of staircases. The kitchen is especially appealing, matching an industrial staircase with wood treads with subway tile, marble, and a ten-burner commercial stove.
The apartment’s living space extends outdoors with a 400 square-foot terrace that overlooks Central Park.
Sting is currently on tour in Europe in support of his latest album ‘57th and 9th.’
