Actress Taraji P. Henson is moving on from her Hollywood Hills home in exchange for $2.35 million.

Henson, who is known for playing charismatic matriarch Cookie Lyon on FOX’s hit drama “Empire,” picked up the Los Angeles-area property for $1.695 million in 2010. It isn’t likely that the actress ever made the Moorish-style residence her home, but she did lease it out for about $12,000 a month.

The three-floor home extends to 4,200 square feet of interior living space. It boasts several balconies and a stylistic mishmash of details that give it an unusual Arabian Nights-meets-contemporary feel; a wooden staircase and ornate doors, generic tile flooring, a rococo fireplace, and recessed lighting provide a survey of the influences tapped. Over all, the Indian Buddha keeps watch from at least two locations.

Where it shines is in the Moorish details: the balconies, the carved wood, the pendant fixtures. Heavy-handed, but off the beaten path, and fairly remarkable.

Living spaces are open and inviting, and include formal living and dining rooms and a spacious kitchen. A billiards room, and a small home theater/media room provide diversion. There are five bedrooms here. And, a 600-bottle wine cellar. Saved the best for last.

Henson earned a Golden Globe for her role in “Empire”; she was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
