Tennis Legend Chris Evert Looking to Sell Lavish Florida Manse for $5M

Professional tennis legend Chris Evert recently listed her longtime home in Boca Raton, Florida. Evert purchased the property with her ex-husband, skier Andy Mill, a few years before the two parted company. The couple picked up the house for $2.8 million.  It was listed this month for $4.99 million.

The property is situated in Horseshoe acres, a gated community that welcomes equestrian enthusiasts. From the gated driveway entrance, it looks entirely the Floridian mansion, with a paver drive, a considerable lot size, and a large, rambling house with a tile roof.

The entrance to the main house is fairly unusual; it begins outside, with an enclosed, pergola covered walk leading up to the front door. A fountain and a trio of lanterns heightens the effect.

Within, the sense of extended invitation continues; the foyer is more of a gallery, with a sitting area at the far end, a set of French doors opening to the rear of the property, and a coffered ceiling. Throughout, the interiors—which extend to just shy of 12,300 square feet—are warm and very spacious, with columns, plank hardwood floors, carved stone, raw timber, and tile. The sense of space is all-important, though, and room-to-room flow in the home lends itself to a powerful sense of continuity.

Which is as true outside as inside. The property extends to over five acres, allowing for lots of room for patios, terraces, a generously proportioned pool, putting green, horse trail, bike track, and the pair of guest houses.

Oh, and a tennis court.

Evert took home eighteen Grand Slam singles titles during her career. A juggernaut of a player, her singles win average of nearly 90% remains a record for both women and men.
