F1 fans will remember the name Brabham. The company’s Formula 1 racers terrorized courses from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. In 1966, designer and company co-founder Jack Brabham took home a FIA Driver’s Championship in a car he’d constructed himself; no-one before or since has done so.

The British manufacturer is back with a supercar that pays homage to the company’s professional racing history while offering street-legal compensations. The BT62 is buoyed by the name recognition of the company’s race-car models, but the design borrows inspiration from Lamborghini, and emphasizes fluid curvature over angular formations. Drivers will find many of the bells and whistles expected of a track-inspired supercar, with an interior decked out in carbon fiber that looks all business.

The BT62 features a naturally aspirated, 5.4-liter V8 engine. Set up with a six-speed sequential transmission, the vehicle can certainly move: 700 horses and 492 lb-ft of torque are on tap. The large rear wing keeps things stable at higher speeds with nearly 2,650 pounds of downforce.

Brabham only plans to produce 70 examples of the BT62, and has priced the model at $1.4 million.
