Actress Morena Baccarin has said goodbye to her Los Angeles-area home for $2.1 million. The residence sold for $100,000 over its ask.

The 1930s-era traditional bungalow is located on a hilltop between Silver Lake and Echo Park. It has been restored, but its period charm has been retained. Throughout the home, unassuming cottage details define, giving the house a unique warmth. The kitchen stove is 1950’s vintage, and the reading room’s dark paneling and brick hearth step run contrary to current trends in the best possible way.

The house stretches to 2,900 square feet and holds at least four bedrooms and three baths. Designed by architect Winchton L. Risley to be a communal space a la the nascent modernism of the period, the home’s central gathering place is the step-down living room complete with a fireplace, with other living spaces and bedrooms falling away from there. Like any good bungalow, it’s heavily weighted on the side of cozy; the dayroom off the kitchen looks particularly appealing.

Aside from the living room, the master suite gets another sizable chunk of floor space; it is large enough for a separate lounging space and boasts French doors leading to a large deck.

Brazilian-born Baccarin, who recently married her “Gotham” co-star Ben McKenzie, paid $1.3 million for the home in June 2012.

Fellow actor Blake Berris and writer-actress Alexandra McGuinness are the new owners of the L.A. property.
