The RWD Audi R8 has arrived.

The German automaker introduced the rear-drive R8 RWS last year at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Now, they are offering more details about their first rear-wheel drive car. And, while they may have stripped down the drivetrain from the standard R8, the same 5.2L v10 is there in all its glory. The R8 RWS is able to sprint from zero to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, which isn’t quite as quick as the R8, which clocks in at 2.6 seconds.

The R8 RWS is the first rear-drive car to come from Audi, and it looks to be the high-end bargain from the company at present. It’s significantly lighter than the R8, with a curb weight of 3,505 pounds; that’s 110 pounds under its AWD sibling. And it features a significantly stronger anti-roll bar.

Of a total production run of 999, only 320 examples are slated to land stateside later this year; U.S. pricing will start at $139,950. Considering Audi’s R8 V10 Plus pricing begins at $195,650, it’s likely these limited R8 models will sell out quickly.
