Michelle Pfeiffer and David Kelley have hung a $29.5 million price tag on their estate in San Mateo County. The couple has owned the property for well over ten years; they picked it up in 2004 for $12 million.

The house dates to 1940, and is designed mainly in the Spanish villa style. The façade is vine-covered, with a plant balcony, upper level shutters, and a series of lower-level French doors opening onto a brick patio.

Inside, the house is pleasingly unassuming, with plank hardwood, a mix of contemporary and period-style light fixtures, and a muted palette that brings unusual complexity to the interior feel. An open-concept step-down living room and family room, and a small staircase leading up to the kitchen and dining area gives its layout a little narrative. Total interior living area extends to a little less than 6,400 square feet, with four bedrooms and five baths throughout.

The property is magnificently landscaped, with mature trees and hedges, a small orchard, and lush gardens blending with the vine-covered house to create an intensely romantic landscape for living. Another cool surprise on this very manageable semi-equestrian estate: an octagonal barn with ten stalls, and an interior garden.

Pfeiffer’s 2017 films include a central role in dangerous Darren Aronofsky’s latest critic-crippling tale of the hellbound, ‘Mother!’; she and writer/producer Kelley tied the knot in 1993.
