New details about the highly anticipated 2019 BMW M2 Competition have finally been revealed. And the car makes for an interesting amalgam of M-series characteristics.
BMW‘s M2 will boast the same S55 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine as the M4, with a dual-clutch transmission. However, the inline-six setup has been modified to produce 410 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. Still, that’s only a 60 hp downgrade, and the car can make the zero-t0-62 mph leap in 4.2 seconds.
Which may make it the performance bargain in the BMW lineup, with a rear-wheel drive system and shorter wheelbase helping it along on the road to being a classically nimble German thrill ride.
Bimmer customers in the market for a spring fling will notice a few cosmetic adjustments as well. Larger air intakes, a reimagined black kidney grill, and the M4’s wing mirrors give the M2 Competition a visual edge. Custom black wheels and upgraded tailpipes have also been added, to finish it off it slick style.
