Guillermo del Toro—currently the happiest film director in Hollywood—has put his Los Angeles-area home on the market for $2.2 million.
Del Toro, whose most recent film “The Shape of Water” was the darling of Oscar night, purchased the Agoura Hills residence for $1.63 million in 2010. However, following the recent announcement of his divorce, the shakeup in his real estate portfolio isn’t too surprising.
Measuring 5,700 square feet, the 1985-built property holds five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The house has a classic appeal, with a curved staircase, a double-height entry and living room, a family room with a wet bar, wine fridge, and fireplace, and a wide array of windows that includes series clerestories and broad bays. Standout details include inlaid oak floors, concept ceilings, and a pleasing variety of natural textures.
The property exterior incorporates a gazebo, an outdoor kitchen, and a pool and spa.
Guillermo del Toro’s visually arresting films include adult-world indictment ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ and ‘Crimson Peak,’ the best 19th-century Gothic novel that never was.
