Luxury automaker Bentley is improving the security on its popular Bentayga crossover: the vehicle is now available with a lockbox that can only be opened via a fingerprint reader.

The $229,000 price tag may not be generally familiar to all, but the unmistakably aristocratic look of the vehicle makes it a natural fit for added security. This is where Bentley’s Mulliner division put itself to work to solve the problem.

Bentley’s rockstar engineers have developed an advanced new storage locker for the center console of the Bentayga. The Mulliner Biometric Secure Stowage unit boasts biometric security tech so drivers can safely stow valuables inside their vehicles, knowing only they will be able to access the space.

The security unit’s locking mechanism is triggered simply with the press of a button, securing the die-cast aluminum container and preserving whatever may be inside, and allowing drivers to park in peace.

The compartment also features two USB ports and an auxiliary charging jack for connectivity.
