Donald Trump’s elder sister Maryanne Trump Barry has seen her coastal Florida property into contract, netting in the neighborhood of $23 million if the sale follows through without a hitch. Barry listed the Palm Beach retreat at the tail end of last year, hanging a $23.9 million price tag on the just shy of 10,500 square-foot beachfront traditional in Mar-a-Lago.
The home features a fairly understated exterior, with French architectural cues by way of the Caribbean. Within, the eight bedroom, nine bath house mixes more palatial aspirations with beach cottage charm; a lighthouse mural decorates one wall as dreamy sidewalk-art fantasy, while the entryway’s inlaid stone floor would make it rigidly formal if not for the washed-out yellow walls.
All rooms in the home get individual treatments that are variations on that established theme. The living room is fairly staid, with a limestone fireplace a little lost in the expanse, and sliders revealing an extensive and rambling indoor/outdoor living space which is more or less an entertainment pavilion. There are also sliders and French doors in family and dining rooms, opening onto the deck and pool area.
The second floor master suite is a genuine retreat, and feels traditional Floridian, with a private balcony and terrace that meditatively surveys the beach and ocean.
Barry is an inactive Senior United States Court of Appeals Judge.
