Italian automaker Lamborghini has introduced a convertible version of its powerful Huracán Performante predictably labeled Spyder. A drop-top Lambo is a very appealing design idea on its own, but the company also worked a few improvements into the Huracán while they were at it.
The standard Huracán makes 602-horsepower with the 5.2-liter V10; the Huracán Performante Spyder keeps the engine, but tunes it to up the production ante to 631 horses. The new vehicle will also likely benefit from a 30 lb-ft increase in torque, which will push it to a zero-to-60 leap in under three seconds, and a max speed of 201 mph.
But the real appeal is the idea of a drop-top Lambo, as liberated a fair-weather fantasy as one can imagine. The power-operated fabric roof can be lowered in just 17 seconds, and operated at up to 30 mph. Side fins behind the headrests reduce wind rush, and improve aerodynamics.
The Huracán Performante Spyder also comes with the ALA aerodynamics package, which adds a hollow rear wing and active front grille flaps. The new model also boasts upgrades to the Huracán’s stability-control system, drive modes, and suspension.
The new convertible Lambo Huracán starts at $308,859.
