Former ‘Today’ anchor Matt Lauer’s shingle-style revival in Sag Harbor has now been on the market for well over two years, and, in an effort to see the property into the sunset, the journalist has slashed the price once again. The home is now listed at $12.75 million, down from the initial asking price of $18 million, set in the summer of 2016, and the more recent asking price of $14.9 million, set last June.

The home is the second of two Sag Harbor properties Lauer has listed since 2016; in December of that year, he sold the first of them for $3.5 million, a waterfront cottage in North Sea. Earlier in the year, he and wife Annette Roque purchased Richard Gere’s former estate in the Hamptons, prompting the selloff of the other properties. That estate—called Strongheart—is a primary residence of the couple, who purchased it for $36.5 million.

The Sag Harbor property currently for sale is of considerable size for the Hamptons: 25 acres. The extent of the grounds, coupled with the aggressive price reductions, should stimulate interest in the sprawling, shingle-clad Cape Cod-style home.

The house spans 8,000 square feet, with six bedrooms, six baths, and a pair of half baths throughout.  It dates to 2004, and was designed by Daniel Romualdez. The interiors present a carefully-considered broad-spectrum approach that uses period influence, cottage inspiration, and contemporary sensibilities to present a very diverse interior scheme.

Miranda Brooks’ garden design suggests the Hamptons heyday, nestling the pool and pool house. An orchard, tennis court, and woodland fill out the grounds.

Lauer was with NBC for twenty years until being fired by the network late last year in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.
