Former model Elin Nordegren, ex-wife of golf pro Tiger Woods, has listed her custom home in North Palm Beach on the open market. The price? A cool $50 million will get you the keys to this warm-weather slice of heaven. Or, $49.5 million, if you’re really counting.
The house is a fairly new, ground-up build dating to 2003, and is not a rebuild or extensive renovation. The design style is Caribbean plantation, with distinct Colonial overtones, including arched windows with hurricane shutters, and a formal entry with an exterior double staircase. Formal stuff, intended to impress.
And, with nearly 26,000 square feet of interior living space to justify the grandiosity of the exterior, impress it does, even considering its immediate competition in the vicinity. Situated in the gated Seminole Landing neighborhood, the trophy estate home is in good company.
The ocean-side of the home is quite modern, with walls of glass allowing for plentiful ocean views from within. Ceiling height is considerable, enhancing the sense of continuation presented by the almost constant ocean views.
The interiors are an amalgam of beach-cottage charm, rigid formality, and modern and period design cues. Throughout much of the home, a shimmer of glam predominates; the home cinema is one good example, the elaborate floor-to-ceiling chandelier that flanks the staircase is another.
There are eleven bedrooms and seventeen baths throughout. The property exterior extends to about 1.5 acres, and incorporates a pool with spa, and a guest/entertainment space with kitchen.
Nordegren and Woods married in 2004. The couple had two children before divorcing in 2010.
