Last fall, talk-show host Joy Behar picked up one apartment on the Upper West Side and put another up for sale. Having purchased a 1,300 square foot unit near Lincoln Center and ABC studios, Ms. Behar listed her 3,000 square foot residence in Astor Court, which is a little further uptown.
This week, she accepted an offer of $3.27 million for the Astor Court apartment. It had been listed at $3.5 million prior to the sale. It was the second unit Ms. Behar had owned in the building.
With three bedrooms and three baths throughout, the unit is a much larger space than Ms. Behar’s new acquisition…but her new location is certainly advantageous.
What she leaves behind is a fairly formal residence with an excellent layout and an understated execution. Marble floors in the foyer give way to dark-finished oak plank, and toning is generally understated warm, giving the place a nicely invitational feel that broods just a bit. An open concept living area features built-ins, a period candelabra chandelier, and enough breathing room to leave the city entirely behind when necessary.
The unit is lower-floor, so there’s a bit of green in close proximity to the windows when the seasons are agreeable. And, the building features a roof terrace with an extravagant garden, for a bit more in the way of fair-weather flora.
Behar returned to co-host ABC’s ‘The View’ in 2015. Her newest book is ‘The Great Gasbag: An A-Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World.’
