Damon Wayans is offering his penthouse unit in Santa Monica for rent. Wayans has owned the unit for well over a decade, having purchased it in 2005 for $3 million; he’s hefted it onto the market more than once with an asking price of $6.5 million, but pulled the most recent listing in favor of finding a tenant at $20K/month.
The building is oceanfront, and situated just half a dozen blocks north of the pier; the location is tough to beat. The building’s four floors present a living style that is absolutely not in a hurry, with some of the most expansive layouts in the area providing unbeatable breathing room. The building lobby presents a nice blend of streamline and earlier deco influences.
The unit itself stretches to 3,098 square feet, with two bedrooms and three baths on a single floor. The condo is expressed as contemporary luxe, with some very pleasing materials in evidence and a great deal of light. The bedrooms are pleasant enough—both feature private balconies, and the master incorporates a nice marble-and-glass bath that’s quite sizeable—but the common living spaces occupy much of the floorplan. The kitchen is handled well, with custom cabinetry offering warm, textured woodgrain against the otherwise modern interiors, giving them a little additional complexity.
Wayans’ most recent project is one half of the televised ‘Lethal Weapon’ reprise. The show is currently in its second season.
