British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph recently introduced two updated bike builds.
While not the fastest production bikes on the market, the Speed Triple S and RS have plenty to brag about. In classic Triumph spirit, the focus is on rideability. The long list of upgraded features include a five-inch TFT dash, a USB charging port, daytime running lights, and four different driving modes.
Triumph emphasized touring comfort and power with quite the engine upgrade, increasing horsepower production by 148, adding 1,000 extra RPM, and bringing 86 additional lb-ft of torque into the picture. The 1050cc triple gets more than 100 tweaks in all, including a lighter battery, a smaller starter motor, and new profile pistons.
Additional changes include a new sump to reduce drag, and a completely rerouted internal oil system that gives the build a sleeker, more stylish exterior.
And, the Triumph 2018 Speed Triple S and RS also receive a cruise control system, making longer excursions that much easier. Which will have many fans of the brand saying, “About time!”
