Harvey Weinstein’s recent real estate dealings extend to this small home in West Hollywood; the former Weinstein Group CEO is looking to rent it out at $7,500 a month. Weinstein has owned the property for about two years, having purchased it in 2015 for $1.6 million.
At 1,400 square feet, the English-style country cottage does the cozy/expansive feel nicely, with a cathedral ceiling allowing for plenty of breathing room in what would otherwise be a small space. The original fireplace—tile lined—adds warmth and little historical context; the home dates to the 1920’s.
The interior architecture has been altered to enhance and build upon the home’s existing charm, with the kitchen renovation featuring a charming Smeg fridge and a large slab backsplash that gives the room a little more perceived height than it actually possesses. The décor is slick but unassuming, and articulates the home as creative but not eccentric. The library is particularly appealing, with extensive built-ins, and a nice balance between darker cool tones and natural light, with French doors opening things up well. Throughout the home, cool tones predominate, with exposed beams and some brick riffing on warmth.
The house is a two-and-two with a master suite. As in the rest of the home, the use of space is inventive; working a walk-in closet into a master in a 1,400 square-foot house is a nifty trick, and this one manages to incorporate a small window seat and plenty of storage without looking too much like a glorified broom closet.
Weinstein sold his home in the Hamptons last month. The ex-producer accepted an offer of $10 million on the home; he’d purchased it in 2014 for $11.7 million.
