Former MLB shortstop Jimmy Rollins recently set a record for the city of Encino with the purchase of a $10.65-million mansion.

The Los Angeles-area home clocks in with the highest-ever recorded sale price in the city, and looking at the property, there’s no mystery as to why. The onetime Dodgers and Phillies player’s new Neoclassical home is big, grandly proportioned, and decked out in high-end materials.

The palatial and modern residence boasts an awe-inspiring front facade with massive pillars supporting a covered porch, a large balcony, and a circular fountain feature with a horseshoe driveway.

The 14,900-square-foot home welcomes visitors via a two-story entry complete with a domed ceiling and double staircase. It’s built to impress: traditional elements like gold trim, a library with rail ladder, and wainscoting are mixed with modern chandeliers and fixtures.

In addition to eight bedrooms and 10 baths, the residence features grand formal living and dining rooms, and an open-concept family room and kitchen. Additional amenities like a wine cellar, a theater room, a gym, an indoor pool, and a sauna add extra touches of comfort.

The outdoor space features a sprawling lawn, a sports court, a cabana with a fireplace, and a swimming pool and spa. The detached guest cottage on the property contains two ensuite bedrooms and its own kitchen.

Rollins spent much of his career with the Phillies. The three-time All-Star player and power-hitter retired last year.
