When she said she was willing to sell her house to fund her defense against litigation initiated against her by Harvey Weinstein, Rose McGowan sounded as serious as the myriad allegations currently facing the former Weinstein Company CEO. Last week, the actress made good, and proved the statement wasn’t hyperbole: she put her home in the Hills up for sale with an asking price of $1.9 million, ostensibly to cover that very specific expense.
McGowan’s mid-century modern home is situated in Hollywood Hills West, and measures a little less than 3,000 square feet. Set into a hillside, the heart of the home is the upper-floor open-concept living area, which is centered by a double-sided stacked-stone fireplace, with white walls offset by a classic midcentury feature: walnut-finished oak floors.
There are four bedrooms and three baths, all told, with a guest/staff suite on the lower level. The kitchen, bedrooms, and baths are presented as minimal and functional.
The quarter-acre lot manages space quite well, working in accent walls, a small sunlounge, a terrace, a fire feature, and a very large spa without looking cramped.
McGowan purchased the home in 2011, for $1.4 million, according to public records, and has definitively confirmed the reason for the sale. McGowan’s upcoming E! series ‘Citizen Rose,’ which details her efforts to combat sexual assault, premiered this week to critical acclaim.
