The former Texas ranch estate of President Lyndon B. Johnson is available to purchase for $2.8 million.
The 2,841-square-foot Texas Hill Country residence is set on 142 acres of land near Johnson City, and while most of the home has changed significantly since Johnson’s tenure, his original bedroom and bathroom remain intact and in use.
Although the home features a number of modern updates, several classic features remain. Among them? Lyndon Johnson’s bathtub. Interestingly, the current owners have commented on the diminutive size of the ‘tub, wondering whether the 6-foot-4 former president actually bathed comfortably.
The home standing today was constructed on the foundation of Johnson’s former home, so the property blends old and new with a dash of American history. In addition to three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the house boasts classic elements like limestone chimneys and pine wood floors.
Italian painter Benini and his wife currently own the unique property, often using the home as an artistic retreat. During their ownership, the Beninis added three additional lots, one of which boasts an airplane hanger serving as an education center and art gallery.
The former president used the ranch as a getaway retreat from 1963 to 1971.
