Infiniti has recently introduced a striking new concept, the Q Inspiration. The one-off statement from the luxury automaker suggests the form of Infinity models to come, as well as the burgeoning emphasis on super-efficient powertrains.

The Q Inspiration looks like it belongs on a movie set years in the future. Infinity rolled out the concept in Detroit, at the North American International Auto Show. The model concept is a sleek representation of the brand’s focus going forward. The design language is aggressively fluid and, mirroring that of newer European sedans, defined by brushstrokes.

In addition to new design elements like ultra-thin LED headlamps, the Q Inspiration takes a bold move by foregoing side mirrors, further enhancing its streamlined look. The interior features a spacious cabin thanks to the compression engine, which is space-efficient as well as fuel-efficient. Not only is the automaker going for a futuristic aesthetic, the company has its sights set on advanced technologies as well. Infiniti has been hard at work developing its Variable Compression-Turbocharged engine. The special powertrain boasts a cylinder compression range from 8:1 to 14:1.

Infiniti’s concept also boasts the brand’s most advanced driving tech, including ProPILOT functionality for advanced cruise control.

Infiniti says the Q Inspiration Concept won’t become a production model. It is an indication of the company’s sense of progression, though, and a revealing of stylistic direction.
