Hollywood producer John Wells has pocketed $12.4 million with the sale of his Los Angeles-area home.
The house, which is situated in the historic Hancock Park area, dates to 1925. Designed in the English Revival style, it boasts brick construction with a beautiful garden and box hedges out front, making a first impression of the exterior a storybook one.
The 9,676-square-foot, nine-bedroom home includes a number of luxe features: a large kitchen with a center island, a formal living room, a beautiful wood-paneled library, an office, and a gym among them. And, the house has a little presidential cachet: it was visited by President Obama for a fundraiser back in 2010.
The backyard is impressive as well with a large swimming pool, a gazebo, a greenhouse, and a lighted tennis court. Landscaping is lush and romantic, making the property a refuge with a series of formal gardens, well-placed hedges, and mature trees. There’s a separate guest apartment located above the garage.
Wells is best known for executive producer credits on TV shows like “The West Wing,” “ER,” and “Shameless.” He purchased the property for $10.4 million about a decade ago.
