Genovation Looks to Make Electric Cars Cool with 800-HP Corvette GXE

The Genovation team is on a mission: to make road-worthy eco-consciousness sexy for those American speed-demons with a taste for cutting-edge automotive esotericism. And the growing company has just unveiled its most persuasive argument in favor of four-wheeled green: the GXE, a Corvette Z06 that’s a whole lot smarter—and faster—than it used to be.

The common misconception the Genovation collective has targeted for destruction is that of the EV as a strictly point-A-to-point-B conveyance, a dryly utilitarian solution to the pressing issues of climate change, pollution and impending fossil-fuel finitude.

And the GXE is a potent argument, one that’s hard for even the most ardently virulent ecological fatalist to contradict. The Z06 is the perfect platform for the car. As an EV, it’s quicker than ever, of course, with no old-fashioned onboard energy conversion to slow things down, and can launch to 60 in under three seconds.

Meanwhile, Genovation’s ethos chugs away beneath. It’s there in the power of the GXE, of course; the car can hit 209 MPH, a speed which set a world record last February. But it’s also there in the materials used in its construction, and even in the manufacturing process itself. There’s soy in the seats, and orange oil in the tires. Genovation’s batteries will be 100% non-toxic, and the power system the company has developed will allow them to be recycled as backups in the same vehicle when they lose their edge.

But, back to fundamentals for the driver keen to experience the undeniable thrill of driving a well-engineered EV sports: 800 horsepower, and a paddle-shift gearbox which may be traded for an optional stick.

$750K will get you in the driver’s seat of this green rocket.
