Italian coachbuilder and designer Camal’s new model for fellow Italian luxury car customizer Aznom is this fascinating bit of strange, called the SerpaS. Not surprisingly, the car’s design is intended to evoke the serpent-like, and a quick glance will tell you why.

Beyond the resemblance to a snake’s head, though, the SerpaS’ shape is possessed of a curious mix of geometry and fluid lines, the futuristic and the nostalgic. It’s a fairly arresting design balance, and the execution in all aluminum gives it the all-business look of a metallic finish.

The track car is lithe, efficient, and very light; at just under 2000 pounds, the available 358 HP and 204 pound-feet of torque produced by the car’s 2.6L V8 make for impressive numbers. There’s a lot of carbon fiber hiding here, too, including the front splitter, cockpit, engine hatch, and rear diffuser. The cabin also indicates the SerpaS’ intended purpose, with a simple layout favoring only the necessary. And, the car’s uninterrupted profile doesn’t lie: there are no doors, so the car is a true ‘hop in’ sportscar.

While the present iteration of the model is only available with an IC-powered drivetrain, Camal has stated that, by 2020, the SerpaS will be available as an all-electric vehicle.

Camal hasn’t revealed any more specs, or a price, at present. We’ll see what they reveal in the coming year.
