The bassist of American rock band Devo, Gerald Casale, put his Palm Desert home on the market for $1.495 million.
The Midcentury Southern California ranch house is set on roughly half of an acre. It was built and designed by architects Patten and Wild in 1963. Casale paid $1.2 million in 2005 for the distinctly modern residence.
A number of custom features make the 3,200-square-foot home stand out, including high ceilings, slate and cork floors, a split-rock fireplace in the living room, and beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of Mt. Eisenhower. But it’s the overall well-maintained period style which charms most readily.
In addition to four bedrooms and four bathrooms, there’s also a dining room, a chef’s kitchen, an office, and a Japanese-style soaking tub. The exterior features desert-flora landscaping, including several succulent gardens, as well as a number of patios, a fire pit, and a swimming pool.
