The Beverly Hills home of late filmmaker John G. Avildsen has hit the market for $7.995 million.
Avildsen purchased the Los Angeles-area residence for $1.175 million in 1987. The home’s pedigree includes former owner Dorothy Lamour, best known for adding spice to the Hope/Crosby ‘Road’ movies.
Set on 1.81 acres on a private cul-de-sac, the Cape Cod-style residence spans 3,974 square feet and has six bedrooms and five bathrooms. The lot is composed of three parcels allowing for actual 360-degree views of the Santa Monica Bay, the L.A. skyline, the Palos Verde peninsula, and the Hollywood Sign. Of course, the 1940s-built home is impressive in itself with brick accents, floor-to-ceiling windows, a fireplace, and a motor court fit for up to ten cars.
Additional features include a combination living and dining room, a carved wood wet bar, a lofted space above the dining room, a luxe master suite, and a one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse. The backyard also boasts a large wood deck with a swimming pool and a spa.
The lauded director won an Oscar for “Rocky” in 1976 before going on to direct the first three “Karate Kid” movies.
