Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman aren’t moving into Michael Jackson’s old townhouse in Manhattan. But they are moving out of the brick colonial-style on 36 acres they purchased in a quiet area outside Nashville in 2007. The couple still own a property in the area, though, and apparently have no plans to leave entirely.
The couple purchased the property in Franklin, Tennessee for $2.45 million, buying the spread in a pair of transactions; both properties originally contained houses, and it looks as though one is now a guest cottage. This week, they listed the place on the open market with an asking price of $3.45 million.
The main house dates to 1987, and is designed as a kind of modified colonial farmhouse. The exterior is brick, a nice warm contrast to the perennial green of the sylvan mid-South surroundings. It is reached via a very long driveway which follows a long corridor of meadow between forested parcels.
The interiors of the two-story home favor an open-concept/contemporary layout and design style, with cathedral ceilings and skylights appearing frequently and giving the place a nice sense of scale and continuation. Dark plank hardwood floors add contrast to the light-filled home, and there is a lot of glass; the staircase, with an industrial-influenced lateral balustrade, opens up to a second-floor connecting hall that is flanked with walls of glass.
The home is geo-thermally cooled, a nice eco-touch for the climate. There is a barn on the property, which may or may not contain stables.
Urban and Kidman married in 2006. They have two children.
