After introducing the world to its magnificent new V8 Vantage, Aston Martin is already debuting its Vantage GTE race car.
The bodywork is based on the street-legal model, and the GTE favors similarly sleek lines. But more aggressive additions like extra hood vents and a larger front grill than the V8 Vantage give the car its competitive stance. A giant diffuser and a massive wing complete the racer aesthetic.
Naturally, the luxe interior design of the V8 has been replaced with a stripped down race-ready cabin: a roll cage and a number of carbon-fiber elements express the austere functionality of the car. Aside from the various changes to accommodate regulations, there are a number of overlapping elements beneath the hood.
For example, both Aston Martin vehicles boast similar versions of the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged AMG V8 paired with double-wishbone suspension in the front and rear. Other components like the chassis, transmission, and aerodynamic features set the racer apart from its more conventional sibling.
The race version of the V8 Vantage is slated to begin its racing career at the FIA World Endurance Championship in the spring of next year.
