If breathing room is at the top of the list of your real-estate needs, you need to check out T. Boone Pickens’ 65,000 acre estate in Texas. Marketed as an ‘oasis in the Texas panhandle,’ and titled Mesa Vista, the property’s castle-like lodge complex crowns a natural treasure trove that, upon first impression, looks like a personal national park. In fact, it’s somewhat larger than the smaller national parks in the United States.
Mesa Vista represents a life’s work for Pickens, who began amassing the land in the early 1970’s, beginning with a parcel of about 3,000 acres. Forty-five years later, the getaway had become a private compound, with a golf course, engineered lakes and streams, rivers, mesas, waterfalls, and grasslands.
The lodge is designed to accommodate more than fifty guests in comfort, with amenities including a bar/lounge and theater. There is a private residence on the property which measures about 11,500 square feet, with an additional 4,000 square feet of exterior living space to stretch out. The front door of the home once adorned Bing Crosby’s house in Los Angeles.
The property incorporates its own private airport. And, its own private chapel. The kennel is populated by dozens of bird dogs who are cared for by an on-call vet and veterinary clinic, and a full staff.
Mesa Vista is offered at $250M.
