Baseball historians, take note. The Los Angeles-area childhood home of slugger legend Jackie Robinson is now available for $650,000.

Located in Pasadena, the home where the iconic player learned to throw a ball alongside his brothers was actually replaced by the current residence in 1977, but the location itself makes the property special. The home Robinson grew up in was a four-bedroom purchased by the player’s mother, Mallie.

According to a PBS documentary, the home was located in a predominantly white neighborhood, so Robinson and his family suffered from terrible acts of discrimination, including the burning of crosses in the front yard. Robinson’s role as the first African-American Major Leaguer helped baseball become the sport that crystallized the American ideal.

The three-bedroom family home that stands now is a simple affair, but boasts nifty bohemian sensibilities. And, the possibility of capturing some of that Robinson magic is worth the price of admission. The baseball player even lived on the property when he was playing ball for UCLA.

Robinson is best known for breaking the major league color barrier, forever changing the sport of baseball in America.
