Miami Beach Condo of First Female Pritzker Recipient Zaha Hadid Comes Back to Market with $3.5M Price Chop

After a short hiatus, Zaha Hadid’s Miami Beach getaway residence has resurfaced on the market, albeit with a very significant price reduction. The property had been offered at $10 million when it first hit the market toward the end of May; it is now priced at $6.5 million, an aggressive cut against the present realities of the Miami real estate climate. And, whereas the original listing offered the furniture at an additional cost, the new price is lock, stock and barrel. It’s a tough market for sellers these days in that particular corner of the country.

The apartment is located in the W South Beach building, and is a combination of two original units. Hadid purchased the properties about five years apart, paying about $4.2 million for both, and concluding the transactions in 2015.

Hadid’s signature is very much in evidence in the unit. Daringly contemporary, curvaceous, and referential, with an undercurrent of graceful humor running underneath, the design vision makes for an easygoing living space that has much to say. The living area is divided by an accent threshold which would look very much at home in a 1960’s science fiction film, and the ceiling is ornamented with a series of LED-capped bars that suggest intersections at some point in the future.

Hadid, who passed away last year, was the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize.
