After delisting their extravagantly rustic Palm Springs compound early this past summer, actress Suzanne Somers and her husband, producer Alan Hamel, have listed a different property in the desert community, a 432.6 acre parcel of wide-open space inside the boundaries of the city.
The property, which is called Snow Creek Ranch, abuts Federally owned and conservation property, and is suitable for residential or business development; a resort is a possibility. It sits at the base of Mount San Jacinto, and features views which extend to the Whitewater Basin. It also incorporates a palm oasis. It is being offered on the open market at $9.5 million.
The property offered comes in the wake of the couple’s Palm Springs retreat, which appeared on the market last February before vanishing at the end of June. That particular hillside slice of Palm Springs extended across 73 acres, with views overlooking the city. Its living spaces meander through five different dwellings; the buildings were built in the 1920’s, and use locally sourced stone and reclaimed timber in their construction. The eight-bedroom, eleven-bath compound works several lagoon-style pools, as well as desert gardens and walking trails, into its overall design, and is considered one of the more attractive estates in the area. Depending on what happens with the 430 acres in question, it may make another appearance on the market next year.
Somers, who hit it big starring with John Ritter in the 1970’s sitcom ‘Three’s Company,’ recently published the memoir/self-help book, ‘Two’s Company: A Fifty-Year Romance with Lessons Learning in Love, Life and Business.’
Hamel was Canada’s leading talk show host in the 1970s. He later became a producer, sometimes working on Somers’ shows.
